Parties and Entertainment

Join in our Rock and Roll fun

Come along, dress up and add to our Rock and Roll theme. We have rock and roll dances and demonstrations happening all around town so there is something for everyone from the professionals through to those of us who just like to get up and wiggle and shake a bit.

There are Rock and Roll dancers performing at the Timaru "Rock, Hop and Shop" held in the Timaru main street from 4pm before the parade.

There will also be dancers performing in Temuka at the "Rock and Stop" Street Party, where you are welcome to park up, have a look around and enjoy the atmosphere. If you can't get a park on the main street there are plenty of areas you can park just off the side streets.

Saturday Gala Day

Saturday is the big Rock and Hop Gala Day, with the 2019 event attracting more then 900 vehicles, 100 stalls and 10,000 people. This is our huge nostalgia festival the atmosphere is fantastic, with lots of people dressed in their best '50s and '60s clothes, the music is pumping, the stalls are great, the dance floor is rocking and everyone is having a good time.

The cars, caravans and motorbikes are all on display and look great lined up on the grass. Take your time to have a look at the amazing array of vehicles from vintage, classic and muscle cars right through to modern. This really is a celebration of motor vehicles over the years, with a figure of roughly $30 million worth of cars on display in 2019.

The Stalls are selling everything from clothing, cushions, food, jewellery, nostalgia items and much more. We have a bar area where you can sit back, have a drink and take in all that is going on up on the stage, and there is plenty. The Best Dressed Competition is very popular and the entrants really take pride in their amazing outfits . If you would like to enter please make sure you have your entry in by 12 noon.  For more information please "Click Here"

This year we will have The Drama Queens playing and they really know how to get the crowd up on the dance floor with their great voices and their unique style of entertainment. We have plenty of competitions going on to keep you entertained, so get along and get yourself entered to win all sorts of fantastic prizes from our various sponsors. Make sure you get your ticket in our $10,000 lucky ticket raffle too, it's drawn on the day so you will know who won and if it's you then you can really have something to celebrate.

Finally of course we have the Show and Shine Competition Winners Parade. This is the highlight for all contestants and public alike. All of the vehicles which have won a prize for their sections are paraded through the crowd and are then lined up for all to view.  Don't forget to vote for your participants choice or public choice winners. You can do this at the information centre before 1.30pm.

Public entrance to the Show and Shine Gala Day is a donation to our Hospice so please give generously.  Public entrance is open from 10am to 4pm.

Saturday night

On the Saturday night we have our "Rock Your Socks Off" party in the Caroline Bay Hall, with a marquee off to the side to allow as many as possible to enjoy what is one of the weekend highlights. This year you can dance all night to Che Orton and Four on the Floor

PLEASE NOTE: This year the marquee will be full of tables and chairs and the hall will be full with mainly bar leaners. We will endevour to have seats at all leaners but this may not be possible due to available supply. This should ensure that the marquee has its own great atmosphere, and for those who wish to chat you can do so while also nipping next door for a dance as the mood takes you. It will also create more room in the hall to dance and to enjoy the unique sprung dance floor (you'll know it if you get out of time with the music).

This is the party of the weekend, and we have been fortunate in booking Che Orton and Four on the Floor, so come along for an awesome night out

Tickets for our Rock Your Socks Off party are $40 with supper provided, these usually sell out months prior to the event so please don't hesitate too long.  Please Click Here Button to book yours

We also have so fantastic restaurants and bars in Timaru. If you are not into our parties please take the time to explore our town and enjoy the atmosphere we have to offer.

Sunday morning join us for breakfast in the marquee before heading off on our Sunday Funday cruise to Tekapo or heading off home. This is a great way to say goodbye to everyone and to fill up on awesome food before you go.
