• Fairlie Cruise Leaves Caroline Bay 10am

On Friday morning, the Caroline Bay Rock and Hop Cruise rolls into Fairlie, a welcoming rural town renowned for its community spirit, country hospitality and stunning alpine scenery. Nestled between the rolling hills of South Canterbury and the vast landscapes of the Mackenzie Country, Fairlie is the perfect destination for classic cars, great company and
    small-town charm.

Originally known as Fairlie Creek, the township was established in the mid-1860s as a coaching and accommodation stop for
travellers heading inland. The arrival of the railway in 1884 helped Fairlie flourish as the service centre for the surrounding farming district, while regular coach services carried visitors onward to Aoraki/Mount Cook and the Mackenzie Basin.

Today, Fairlie proudly celebrates its rich heritage through its unique landmarks and stories. Visitors can stroll beneath the iconic trees of Peace Avenue, planted as a memorial to local servicemen following World War I, visit the Fairlie Heritage Museum, and stop by the famous statue of legendary high-country sheep rustler James Mackenzie and his loyal dog Friday, a tribute to one of New Zealand's most enduring frontier legends.

Fairlie is also a food lover's destination. No visit is complete without sampling the town's famous Fairlie Bakehouse pies, regarded by many as among New Zealand's best. Visitors can also enjoy locally roasted coffee, country café fare, artisan baking and delicious produce sourced from the surrounding farming district, reflecting the region's reputation for quality food and warm hospitality.

Whether you're admiring a stunning lineup of classic vehicles, exploring local shops and galleries, discovering Fairlie's fascinating history, or enjoying a famous Mackenzie Country pie, you'll quickly see why this thriving rural community is one of South Canterbury's favourite destinations.

Fairlie welcomes the Rock and Hop family – we look forward
    to seeing you there!
