What is the Caroline Bay Rock and Hop?
The Caroline Bay Rock and Hop is organised by The Hospice South Canterbury and is a Show for all cars, caravans and motorbikes from modern to vintage, from classic to muscle, from Japanese to English this show is for everyone. Along with the show there is a Nostalgia theme that celebrates the best of the 50’s & 60’s. Everyone is encouraged to dress in the 50’s and 60’s style and have a celebration with us.
When is the Caroline Bay Rock and Hop?
The Rock and Hop will be on every third weekend in March, the next event is 18,19,20,21 March 2021
Where is the Caroline Bay Rock and Hop?
The Rock and Hop is held in the lovely town of Timaru in South Canterbury, down at the “Jewel in the Crown” Caroline Bay.
What does it cost to come to the Rock and Hop Gala Day?
If you have a vehicle and want to take part in all of the cruises and the Show and Shine Competition the cost is $40 per car or caravan and $35 per motorbike.
Entry to the Gala Day is by donation to our local Hospice for the general public. This event cost's alot to put on so please be generous to our Hospice.
Can I apply to bring my car to the Rock and Hop?
Yes – any car can apply to come to the Caroline bay Rock and Hop. Entry is by registration only and is a cost of $40. Space is limited and vehicle sites usually sell out so we don't recommend waiting to register on the day. All funds raised from this event go directly to Hospice South Canterbury.
So can I just turn up with my car?
We will only have registrations on the day if we do not sell out beforehand. In the past registrations have sold out by February so we don't recommend waiting until the day of the event.
How do I enter my vehicle?
Car, Caravan and bike entrants need to register and pay an entry fee BEFORE they can enter the Rock and Hop. This can be done via the website www.carolinebayrockandhop.co.nz or can be done through contacting Hospice South Canterbury on 03 687 7670

What are the TERMS AND CONDITIONS
2021 Caroline Bay Rock and Hop Terms and Conditions of entry.
Caroline Bay Rock and Hop and the event organiser Hospice South Canterbury Inc along with all committee members will now be referred to as “The event organisers”.
When you secure your registration and choose to partake in any recommended cruises or to park in our Event precinct, you are agreeing to:
• You confirm all information provided is correct and true,
• You understand Event Photographers may take a photo that includes you or your vehicle. These photos may be used in Social Media and Marketing at the discretion of the Event Organisers.
• All vehicle owners must acknowledge the “Terms and Conditions” to confirm that they have read, understood, and will abide by the “Terms and Conditions” contained therein.
Obtain a vehicle pass sticker at the Event Registration area upon entry and display this on the front windscreen of your car or caravan. Motorbikes must have the sticker in a clearly visible spot. This pass is only valid if it is legible and it is not mutilated, altered or obscured in any way.
Obey all parking volunteers and only park in the allocated area.
Not exceed the speed limit of 10kph when within the Caroline Bay display area.
Put your rubbish in a bin onsite or take it away with you. – Stall holder
The event organisers reserve the right to refuse or revoke entry for irresponsible/unsafe behaviour at their discretion. The event organisers will take no responsibility for any costs incurred by this action.
Rules regarding the display of vehicles and participation in any recommended cruises.
• Security of vehicles is the owner’s responsibility.
• All road rules must always be obeyed. Any sustained loss of traction or dangerous driving behaviour could result in expulsion from the event.
• Once a vehicle is parked in the allocated display position at the Saturday Gala Day, the driver is requested not to move the vehicle until 4pm unless they have the permission of the Event Organiser/Safety Officer. If this is an emergency, please contact our information tent and we will organise a quick exit for you.
Gazebos and temporary structures
Strictly no advertising is allowed on any vehicle site, however clubs are invited to display a banner or board with their name etc. No commercial advertising is allowed unless classified as a sponsor by the organisers. No sale of any merchandise, car parts or any form of business is to be carried out by anyone unless previously agreed to in writing by the organising committee.
Our Refund Policy All Rock and Hop Vehicle entries are non-refundable but are transferable. If you wish to transfer your entry, we must have your new vehicle registration number and contact details. Otherwise entry may not be guaranteed. Please contact us on 03 687 7670
Vehicle entries will again be limited to 1000 cars.
All party tickets are non-refundable; however, you can transfer these. We do request that you let us know the name of the new owners so that we can update our invitees’ lists. Please call us on 03 687 7670
The vehicle judges’ decisions are final, and no correspondence will be entered. Prizes are not cash refundable.
The winners of the People’s Choice and the Participants Choice will return the trophies for engraving and return them in February the following year. Trophies will be sent out and returned at the event organisers expense.
It may be necessary for reasons beyond our control to change the content and timing of the programme, the entertainment, or the venue at any time prior to the event date. The event organisers will ensure any changes are advised as soon as possible.
The event organisers shall have no liability for any death or bodily injury, or loss of or damage to property, of anyone attending the event, whether arising from such attendance, or in relation to the provision or use of the facilities at the event. You agree to indemnify the event organiser against any claim in respect of any such liability (and the costs and expenses incurred by the event organiser in relation there to).

Do I need to bring my printed ticket
Yes please. All tickets have a unique code and this needs to be shown to gain entry. If you have lost or forgotten your ticket you need to contact us on 03 687 7679 to organise a re issue.
What is the refund policy?
I am sorry but there will be a No Refunds Policy. You are welcome to swap/trade your tickets with someone else, however we do need the details of the new owner to enable us to get them through the entrance.
